Goodnight Milk

My almost 2 year old is a very poor eater, always has been. He wakes several times a night and needs milk to resettle him first time he wakes. A friend suggested putting a rusk in his bedtime bottle which I wouldn't do due to sugar content but began thinking about thicker milks. Anyone used Hipp Goodnight Milk? Does it help?

A 2 year old is still on a bedtime bottle? What kind of milk are you giving him at the moment? He’s not going to stop waking if he’s still getting fed. What’s your bedtime routine?

You thought about night weaning? He might start eating more during the day then.

Also, restrict milk to 15oz a day. It fills them up and they eat less.

He just has normal cows milk. I've tried night weaning many times but he screams the house down, Hubble and I both work full time and I just give in so I can get some sleep and he doesn't wake his sister.

If you don’t persevere your situation will
Not change

@Copperandtod thanks for your advice but I asked if anyone had used Goodnight Milk. Have you used it?

No I haven’t, but at 2 years old type of milk you use won’t make much of a difference because it should not be the main source of food

At this age, it'll be about the psychological association and the comfort thing, not what's actually in the bottle. I really don't think switching milk will make any difference, and a toddler this age shouldn't be having nighttime bottles of anything--it's bad for his teeth and palate development.

I think you need to grasp the nettle and nightwean. "Sleep Lady" book (Kim West) is very good for this kind of thing.

If it's a sleep association then changing milk won't make a difference. I'd give something like weetabix before bed and then offer only water if he wakes in the night

Same as pp have said.you need to brake the cycle, will probably only take a week.

You say you work and need ti sleep, but surely 2yo goes to bed way before you so won't disturb your sleep.

Don't switch from cows milk back to formula
