Bottle refuse advice

Hi does anyone have any advice when baby refuses bottle?

My DD is 9 months. She has been breastfed from birth and used to have bottles of EBM so my Hubby could do some night feeds. But since 5 months I stopped pumping as she was a great feeder and it was a lot easier just getting her up and straight on for night feeds...

However, now she's 9 months I would like to introduce some formula as well as to continue breastfeeding...it's so my hubby can have some cuddles with her and help with bedtime. I've been finding the long bedtime routine a real strain.. she often takes an hour or so to go down.. 2/3 up and down in cot before she's out till the first and only feed in the night...

I've tried to give her the bottle over last few days but she pushes it away .. she doesn't want anything to do with it.. she has also done this at meal times this week. I don't know if she's teething.. how long does that last?

Sorry for the long post... I'm feeling lost, lack of sleep and stumbling about in the dark.

At 9 months she doesn't need a bottle. Just use sippy cups.

I doubt she'll take one at 9 months. My guy was a bottle refuser from the word go. Use a cup if desperate. Keep trying but if you are both getting frustrated stop and try again another day.

No bottles, use cups

Has your DH tried giving her a bottle when you are not there?

Littlebelina · 04/05/2019 16:57

Are you trying formula or breastmilk? Dd was a bottle refuser until recently, now will take breastmilk but reluctant with formula. If she will take breastmilk you could try slowly mixing formula in but as pp says you could move straight to a cup (but again might be best to try with bm first)

Agree with trying cups or sippy cups. Be ready for her never taking a bottle though. Mine never did (and we gyros to introduce one earlier than you) and I only got a proper break when I stopped breastfeeding just after a year.... This time I'm planning on breast feeding but expressing and trying bottles sooner!
