Meals for 10 month old

Hi,

I was hoping for some advice for feeding my 10 month old. I've got into the bad habit of giving him jars of baby food, out of convenience and the fact that I'm not much of a cook, but would really rather get him eating proper food.

The problem is that he turns his nose up at most homecooked things I offer, whether pureed or otherwise. I tried making him tuna pasta for lunch and he wouldn't touch it. He has a good pincer grip and will happily feed himself bits of toast, breadsticks, banana, pear, satsuma, blueberries etc. He will also often try little bits of meals I offer him, for example he ate big chunks of salmon omelette, but starts to fuss and won't eat a full meal like that. I also struggle to find the time to cook him proper meals as he is not one to sit patiently in a chair and wait.

Any suggestions of 'easy' meals to try? And how do you feed them? I've seen people say they do things like jacket potato - but do you spoon feed that or break it into chunks for them?

Thanks in advance.

My DD is 11 month old and I try to give her whatever I eat out of pure convenience. Some of her favourite foods are:

Veggie sausage casserole (cauldron brand)
Normal meat sausages
Corn meat balls
Spicy chicken fajitas (she loves spicy food!)
Chicken curry
Chilli con-carne

I do these in the slow cooker with loads of veg, then I can freeze portions for both of us. I cut it up to bit size chunks and she feeds herself most of it.

Snacks

Mini pizza on sandwich thin or wraps, sometimes cheese-less with hummus.
Ham
Marmite on toast
Cheese on toast (soft spreadable cheese)

Any fruit cut up into small chunks
Cucumber sticks (I've tried other veggie sticks but she isn't interested)
Tuna sandwich
Cheese sandwich
Scrambled egg
Cooked chicken cut into chunks
Yogurts

She often turns her nose up at things the first few times I give it to her, I keep trying and she often starts to like things after about 2/3 goes. The only thing she point blank refuses is avocado Grin

Hope that helps

Oh I forgot beans, I hate them but she likes them. I cook a tin then freeze portions. Get them out in the morning ready for after urself. Warm them up in the microwave, she had them on toast or half a jacket potato.

Thank you!

Do you use bowls or just put on the high chair tray? I'm thinking about things like the curry or casserole you mentioned- how best to serve them?

Are things like beans ok? Not too salty? And would you spread them on the toast?

I'm sure these are really stupid questions!

Sorry me again, also I do a mixture of spoon feeding and baby led feeding. She doesn't like being fed so I have to often let her get messy and feed herself. I use a divider plate and put little bits in each section for her to chose from. Then for stuff with sauce I spoon feed her myself, this seems to work as she gets to feed herself in between spoonfuls from me.

I'm a single mum so I use my slow cooker a lot to save time, or I pop her in the high chair in the kitchen while I cook. A few toys on the table and she is happy for about 10 mins. If all fails I put mr tumbles on the tv Smile thank god for mr tumbles!

I think beans are ok, in moderation. Like everything....dont give it to them every day. She has them probably once a week.
