Heating up food when out and about

mum2JRC · 09/07/2007 19:01

My son has just started on having some meat purees.
They obviously need to be reheated so that they are piping hot so how does anyone do this when they are out and about?

Any tips would be much appreciated

TIA

If I knew that ds would be fed within the hour, I used to heat the puree before I left the house and then it would have cooled to the correct temperature when I got wherever I was going. The alternative is to use something that can be given cold e.g. fruit puree, yoghurt, mashed banana and leave the hot foods for when you are at home and can heat them for yourself

the other thing to do would be to use a jar as they can be given at room temperature (I tried not to do this with ds although I weaned dd onto jarred food 3 years ago)

I kept meat for when we were at home and my babies got used to eating everything at room temp. They don't know any different and they are fab eaters still now.

I used to just take a fuit type pudding when out and about. Doesn't matter that thats not warmed. You can also get soya yoghurts that don't need refridgeration which are also geat for those sorts of times.

oops forgot to say I didn't bother with savoury

yeah i would either heat the food too hot and put in a lil tub or just introduce a pudding jar to ur son.many cafes have baby heating facilities and places like mothercare have them in the baby room in their shop

My ds will eat some veggie stuff cold but usually I viist the coffee houses where i know will warm food/./ as a ule of thumb, debenhams and m&S are good. debenhams usually have a microwave and food warming facilities...

YOu can usually find somewhere and i always have a yoghurt in my bag with an ice pack for emergencies! good luck

You can get wee Avent tubs that hold a fair amount and gan be heated in bottle warmers in changing areas.
