We started waking DS at 6 months exactly and hes been fussy since day one! Not had chance to catch up with the HV and to ne honest find them quite ineffective locally anyway.....any ideas??

At present we give a combination of know liked foods and new at every meal which has increased the options slightly but i just wasnt expecting such a fussy eater until toddlerness took over

I am sorry i have no advice but thought it might make you feel better knowing I have a nine month old in exactly the same camp. Recent cold symptoms have made things worse too. Totally went off all solids last week and feel like we're starting all over again.

Dc doesn't even really give things a chance 😩

It's such a worry isn't it!

Its lovely to know we're not alone actually! Also had the cold and teething leading to not eating situation here 🙈

It gets very boring making the same lunch and dinner constantly and i feel very guilty about it but he seems happy

Yes the teething is an issue here too I think.

My dc doesn't even really take any interest in playing with food at the moment, let alone putting it in the mouth!

We've even tried going back to purees but had no success. Ive never been fussy so no idea where hes got it from!

Have you ever had much success with weaning or has it been a non starter?

I am wondering if she doesn't like the idea of it because I was trying too hard at the start to encourage her. But i only did this because I was told that babies can take ten times/trials to accept food so I persisted. Seems to have backfired.

We had a phase of broccoli eating and she has once eaten chicken. Some purees but in the last three days all she's done is nibble the end of some toast.

I think they'll eat when they're ready. My boy will eat things off a spoon he wont feed himself which is odd, today he willingly ate carrot mash off a spoon but a soft carrot put in front of him goes on the floor 🙈 the only food guaranteed to end up in his belly is ellas kitchen crisps

How are you going @Northernbeachbum ? Any progress?
We found that eating in front of her helped a bit.

Northernbeachbum · 16/03/2019 09:39

We're having success eating out and about oddly. Also pureed veg are accepted if spoon fed so we're wondering if he doesn't like the texture/mess on his hands. He's still a mega fussy one but the list of foods he will eat is gradually increasing Smile

Hooray!!!
DD doesn't like slimy things in her hands either so we bought a (12 month +) Tommy tippy cutlery set - so it's silver like ours- and the fork is a big hit. Might be worth trying? Eg. there was no chance she would pick up banana slices but with a bit of guidance from me it's slightly more successful on fork.
Also veg fritters/pancakes are good too.
Hope our babies continue to get the hang of things!

He loves bananas but doesnt seem to want to eat things that mush.....just likes squishing them Grin we have bought cutlery so maybe we will give it a go with getting him to use it with things we know he likes
