Baby porridge without cow’s milk

I’m just getting ready to wean DD2 but I’m keen to avoid cow’s milk in for the very first food as her sister was badly allergic (made her lips swell etc) so I’d like to have a couple of weeks getting used to food before we introduce it.

With DD1 I’m sure we had a baby porridge that I just made up with breast milk but I can’t seem to find one this time. They all seem to have cow’s milk in them and then make up with water. I had a feeling it’s was Boots own brand, but not sure if they’ve stopped making it.

Can anyone suggest any brands?

Thanks

Can't You just make porridge yourself with oats? Ds2 couldn't have any dairy and soy so I just made it for the whole family with water and then added milk to ours and breast milk or oat milk to his.

Just use normal porridge. Whizz up the pats with a blender if you want it smoother.

Babies don’t need special food, they’re tiny humans, not some mad weird species! They just need proper food.

Most just say to add babys normal milk so you could just add breastmilk. The heinz ones in tubs can be made with boiling water.

My dairy free daughter has normal oats made up with oatly barrista.
You could whizz the oats if you wanted finer texture

Good point - I was thinking that normal porridge might be a bit thicker and lumpier than the baby porridge, but I could look to get some of the finely milled stuff. Good idea to cook with water and then add the milk so I don’t have to make a full batch for a couple of spoon’s worth!

Ella’s kitchen do some, as do little bistro (they definitely have a dairy free blueberry one and one other but double check as not all of them are.) I’ve also got a cow and gate banana one that’s dairy free. Otherwise I just use normal porridge oats or oatibix. It’s cheaper that way too.

I just gave ready brek! Or whizzed up oats.

@deliabell - thanks for the link! I hadn’t spotted that one, but might be worth getting in for days when I’m in more of a rush.

Thanks all for your suggestions!
