9 month old and weaning

My little boy is 9 months old and is EBF, we started weaning a while ago now, and it's not going very well at all.

I've tried a combo of BLW and spoon fed and neither seem to be working. He will quite happily feed himself melty puffs and rice cakes but if I give him actual food he won't eat it.

I've tried him on thicker puree and he won't eat that either.

He literally only eats little coconutter yoghurts (He has cmpa) and the Ellas Kitchen snacks like melty puffs and rice cakes and that's basically it.

The health visitors keep insisting he needs to be eating lumps and eating more food, but I physically can't get him to eat more.

He is so suspicious of new foods, I've tried giving him new things with things I know he likes, he'll take one bite and refuse to eat any more.

I'm so worried he's not getting enough of what he needs to grow. His weight gain is steady and he is following the 25th centile for weight.

Just looking for advice really, I'm not sure what else I can try.

Stop with the snacks for one meal and give cucumber or avocado pieces.

How much milk is he having? Does he have a vitamin?

Are you anxious about it? If he sees you being anxious about new foods, he will be.

@Fusioluxe I'm really positive about new food, I'll always eat it with him and show him that it's tasty and safe to eat.

I tried the cucumber sticks at lunch today he took one bite and threw it on the floor.

He has several feeds a day, it's impossible for me to say how much as he's breastfed.

He feeds first thing in the morning, about 7am, he has breakfast usually yoghurt and that's at about 830am, he'll have another feed at about 10am, I'll try lunch about 12ish which he usually refuses he might have 2 maybe 3 spoons of something if I'm lucky, he'll have another feed at 2ish and again at 5ish. I try him with dinner at around 6ish which is when we eat. He then has a bath and has another milk feed and goes to bed. He wakes up in the night for feeds too.

Had the same problem. We went from smooth to a bit less smooth to tiny lumps and then even more lumps. He was on smooth purees still at 9 months, at 1 year he's on proper food. He feeds himself little bits, but he still likes me to put bits in his mouth. We keep trying- he'll pick a bit up at the start and then gives in. He still likes to be fed his milk too- that's the way he is. But, I know he'll feed himself with a knife and fork in the not too distant future

Try banana first- mushy but solid. Other things that worked for us was avocado- mushy bit a bit lumpy. Go with the gradual approach for lumps. I worried a lot about this, turns out I had nothing to worry about

@rubyroot He won't eat banana whole, he will only eat it if I mash it and he doesn't like avocado, ice tried most of the solid but mushy things and he won't eat them, all he wants are his melty snacks and yoghurt.
