Cheese allergy?

DS 7m seems to have a horrific night sleep if he has something including cheese for dinner. Hes never had an issue with formula though, what should we do? Obviously avoid cheese but forever? He absolutely loves it too

Dairy is hard to digest, so maybe avoid what I call the “hard” dairy until he’s a little older.

Does he show any other signs of intolerance? Is it just of an evening, how does he respond to it within the day?

I personally don’t eat any dairy at all, and I personally don’t like the vegan cheeses on offer but a young child may respond better to it. As he’s young, you could maybe try him with the lactofree cheese first, it’s still dairy just without the lactose. It will also maybe help you see if it is the dairy that’s an issue or the lactose in the dairy.

Does he have yogurts or anything like that?

DD had a dairy protein intolerance. She grew out of it at about 3. We never found any of the lacto free stuff palatable but when he gets to one, the soya alternatives might be useful.

It’s a real problem to get weight on them when avoiding dairy so be sure to bulk up with things like olive oil where you can.

Hes on bog standard formula although does have silent reflux so i did wonder if we've been missing this all along!

He never has solid cheese, but loves cauliflower cheese and things like that. Or spreadable cheese on bread.

I dont mind the lacto free cheese so maybe I'll get some and see how he gets on with that

I would maybe not give him any cheese this week, and see if it’s the silent reflux. Maybe next week introduce some of the foods that’s you think trigger it and you will hopefully then be able to figure it out, and said foods without the cheese.

It’s so tricky as they obviously can’t tell you, I would’ve thought if he had an intolerance or allergy that the milk would aggravate him too.

Also if he’s having a fibrous evening meal it could be too much to digest for him. I know my niece could never eat cauliflower as a baby it would give her digestive issues.
