Ikea Antilop. Cheap, easy to clean and the cover for the insert just pops in the washing machine.

PotteringAlong · 28/12/2018 21:31

Ikea antilop. Don’t waste your money on anything else.

LahDeDah · 28/12/2018 21:33

Ikea antilop. By far the highest priority in a high chair is ease of cleaning, this one is the easiest!

slothandsloth · 28/12/2018 21:37

Ikea one or the ASDA £13 one. Almost the same as the Ikea one but easier to purchase if you aren't planning a trip to Ikea. And the ASDA one has legs which can be used at half height, I've found I used it like that more than I expected to Grin

Hersetta427 · 28/12/2018 21:39

Idea a tulip. It's a no brainier.

Hersetta427 · 28/12/2018 21:39

Pissing phone. Ikea antilop!!

hendricksy · 28/12/2018 21:40

Ikea!!

FinallyGotAnIPhone · 28/12/2018 21:40

Definitely ikea. Just don’t see the point in any other bigger/ more expensive chairs.

Kion · 28/12/2018 21:43

Ikea for definite. We bought a more expensive one then ended up selling it and getting the ikea one. It's a bargain at around £15.

SailAwayWithMeHuni · 28/12/2018 21:44

I made a post on here asking for advice when I was looking for a high chair stating all sorts of requirements.

I was told I was over thinking it and the ikea antilope was highly recommended.

I took the advice I was given and genuinely haven’t regretted it.

BakerBear · 28/12/2018 21:46

I dont like the ikea one as all the food falls into the childs lap as there is a massive gap between the table on it and the seat.

We have the babybjorn one which goes right up to the tummy so no food on their lap. Its pricy though at around £165.

With dd i had the brother max scoop which again was very easy to clean and table goes right up to their tummy. Im sorry i sold that as i could of saved myself some money by not buying the babybjorn when ds was born

moreismore · 28/12/2018 21:49

Another vote for baby bjorn over antilop, you can get them on eBay for around £100 and they hold their value to resell

mochachocochino · 28/12/2018 21:49

Another vote for the Ikea one 👍🏻

BikeRunSki · 28/12/2018 21:51

Ikea Antilop or Asda/Aldi/Anywhere else dupe

Tidypidy · 28/12/2018 21:55

Ikea high chair and a bib with pouch to catch the debris. Long sleeved bibs are useful too. We used an inflatable back rest thing from Ikea which kept my dc pushed forwards so no gap between tray and baby. As they got older they filled the gap themselves!

Wallington · 28/12/2018 22:06

The BabyDan Danchair (cheaper version of Stokke Tripp Trapp) is great if you want something that can be pulled right up to the table.

FannyAndMoonFace · 28/12/2018 22:06

Antilop - look no further!

PinkDaydreams · 29/12/2018 18:51

Take a look at the Jane Avtiva Evo. It turns into a table and chairs. Love our one, son is very comfortable in it.
Tried the ikea ones and they seem very unstable compared to the Jane. The Jane tray pushes right up to baby as well so minimises mess. Big tray which son enjoys banging on :)

BlueMoon33 · 05/01/2019 01:10

I love the ikea high chair.

Get an inflatable cushion to keep them propped up when little.

Also www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B07CCYJ2ZP/ref=mp_s_a_1_6_a_it?ref=plSrch&keywords=ikea+antilop+tray&dpPl=1&dpID=41gicdmJ7zL&tag=mumsnetforum-21&ie=UTF8&qid=1546650518&sr=8-6 this has been invaluable with it too as my DS likes to peel off any suction bowls or plates!

ShovingLeopard · 05/01/2019 01:24

The blow up cushion for the Antilop is also really useful for wedging them into swings.

EatsFartsAndLeaves · 05/01/2019 01:39

IKEA Antilop. £13, can't go wrong.

CleopatrasMum · 05/01/2019 02:07

I like the Asda one more than the IKEA one having used both. The Asda one has shoulder straps for the belt, a hook arrangement to hang the tray when you are not using it and a foot rest. And the half height option mentioned above. All for the same price as the IKEA one when you include the tray. Great value.

MaderiaCycle · 05/01/2019 02:30

IKEA. It goes in the dishwasher. Without the legs. Obvs.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 05/01/2019 02:40

There isn’t a gap between tray and baby on the antilop if you stick a cushion behind them! Ikea even sell one to fit. You can also remove the tray and push them right up to the table. I got mine for £5 second hand locally including cushion. I don’t like the high chairs with high sloping backs as they seem like a choking risk when babies are small as they lie back rather than sitting upright

slothandsloth · 06/01/2019 10:36

@CleopatrasMum Thank you so much for your post. My dd has been in the Asda high chair for about 9 months now. I too prefer it to the Ikea one (see my previous post) but I had no idea about the tray hook arrangement Shock I have wondered what the little sticking out things on the back were. What a good idea. The tray is now neatly hooked in place Grin Thanks!
