BLW. Read Gill Rapley's book. My daughter is 10 months old, eats everything we eat and feeds herself with very little assistance. Plus she'll eat everything. I'm so glad we did it, it's been so much easier for us and, imo, better for her.

Thankyou, I will go and check this out :-)

I can secon Gill Ripley’s book. There’s some Weaning info on MN too Smile

It's a bit passé now, but I had the Annabel Karmel books and they were useful with what to introduce when. Don't get hung up on BLW v purees, just do what works best for your baby and you. I found a mixture of puree and finger foods easiest. Purees are good if you want to pre-prepare and freeze lots in advance - I started with ice-cube trays then froze portions in slightly bigger pots. BLW should theoretically mean they are eating what you eat but watch salt/flavourings.

Look up current allergy advice as there is some evidence that introducing nuts/wheat earlier actually helps prevent food allergies.

Also, I found when I first started I gave solids at one of their regular feed times, then finished off with a milk feed. Or you can give a small feed first, then a taste of solids, then finish milk. After a few days, I introduced solids at another feed time. Both mine took to it easily and were eating 3 meals plus 3-4 milk feeds at 7 months but I did wean them a bit early because of reflux.

Agree with not getting too hung up on BLW v purees, just don’t get too enthusiastic with the batch cooking as some babies (I’m looking st Yiu DD) simply refuse spoons altogether.

Also, the current guidelines are to start offering solids 3 times a day between 8 and 9 months Smile

Blw, I recommend the cook book version. Next time though I will probably do a bit of both.

I have both Gill Rapley baby led weaning book and Annabel Karmel book (when, where, how to wean your baby). Get them off eBay second hand. Annabel Karmel also has a great app. Love her recipes. Could eat them myself.

I initially wanted to do BLW but I have ended up going the traditional route but using a lot of finger food ideas from the BLW book.
Do what works for you and don't get too hung up on following one approach to the letter.
