Hi I wanted to ask what your experience is of introducing solids when breast feeding. My dd is now 22 weeks old and is taking a real interest in the food we are eating. I was quite happy to wait until 6 months to start BLW as I know this is the recommended time. However, she has been trying to grab food out of my hand and we recently let her sit in high chair and let her suck on some chicken, grab some pasta etc What age have other people began to let their babies explore solids etc At the moment she's not really eating the food just enjoying playing with the textures, sucking and chewing etc. I am not in a hurry for her to eat solids etc I just wondered if it's ok to let her explore food like this?

I think if she is showing an interest then you are doing the right thing. You have been right in following your own instincts.
Just keep away from anything with nuts in and gluten/wheat esp if there are any allergies in your family.

I always waited until my babies were six months to give fingers foods but I did start on solids before that.

Thanks for your responses that's really helpful. I think we'll continue to let her explore food while we're eating etc and see how it goes.
