Breakfast ideas

I'm struggling with breakfast ideas for my seven month old daughter. She is a great eater at lunch and dinner time but not at breakfast. She won't eat porridge or weetabix but will quite happily have fruit purées but I don't want to give her those often. I've tried baby porridge's and super smooth ready brek style oats.
Any suggestions?

Mashed up banana. Boiled egg, scrambled egg.

Wgat time is she having her bottles. She might be full from them. Maybe do breakfast later or reduce size of morning bottle

I used to give mine Greek yogurt - anything else she refused for breakfast.

Greek yoghurt with grated apple and oats. Scrambled eggs. Strips of omelette. Boiled egg and soldiers.

Thanks, she does like yoghurt so I'll try that for breakfast instead of as a pudding. Eggs are a good idea.
She has her bottle about an hour before breakfast but I've tried different times to see if it's that and it hasn't helped. I even tried her with a bit of porridge at lunchtime when I know she's a good eater but she wouldn't have any!
Thanks for the ideas so far.

Banana on toast, pancakes, crumpets, egg. You don't need to stick to typical breakfast stuff though. In the early weaning days I often gave my two leftovers from the fridge - potatoes, veg, fish pie etc! At 7 months it's really just practicing with putting things in their mouth, and experimenting with flavours and textures.

Dorfl · 26/08/2018 13:31

Mine used to like omelette, fruit slices - like mango, melon, apple - with the skin on for chomping on. Toast with fruit or veg purée spread instead of jam, pancakes, chew straws, yoghurt with grated apple, crumpets.

'Breakfast food' is only a social concept, there's no reason you can't serve anything you wouldn't eat at any other time of day. My dd isn't really into breakfast so will often have a tuna sandwich, or leftover chilli and rice etc for breakfast. As long as she eats a good balanced diet I don't think it's a bad thing.

Have you tried stirring fruit purée into the porridge? Might make it more acceptable to her then gradually decrease the purée if you're worried about the sugar.

Porridge sticks were a hit with mine, if you google you'll find loads of recipes. Yogurt mixed with fruit puree. Smoothies. Porridge made with oatmeal has a smoother texture than porridge oats, she might prefer that.

Thanks all! I've googled porridge sticks so we will definitely try those. I tried fruit purée in porridge too but she wasn't keen on that.

Baby rice? Its only ingredient is rice but it's ground up so it makes a smooth paste when made up w milk. My 6mo dd hates it, even with fruit purée stirred in, but yours might like it!

At 7 months she doesn’t have to eat breakfast if she isn’t fussed OP, it’s no big deal if she’s full from milk at this age. The NHS don’t recommend moving to 3 meals until they’re between 8 and 9 months so there’s no rush Smile

One thing mine liked was a bit of fruit salad, just whatever we had in. Blueberry pancakes are good. You could try cheese on toast, scrambled egg, porridge fingers, a banana, sausage and beans, just cut the sausage lengthways otherwise it can be a choking hazard, smooth nut butter on toast or cinnamon and raisin bagel with butter.

Just make sure the food is cut up into chip sized pieces and the banana will split from the top down the length Smile

My LO is 8 months and has toast every morning, and then maybe some scrambelled egg/omlette if i'm having one.
