Hi my Lo is 9 months old and no matter what she seems to eat she seems since she has started on different meats etc she seems to get a bad tummy ache Sad I always make sure she had plenty of water and prunes mixed in with yoghurt but she still struggles and seems to be in pain. Warm baths do help.
Does anyone have any suggestions

When you say she has bad tummy ache and needs prunes, is she constipated @mummytobabygirl17? Is she on follow on milk by any chance? Just wondering as the high amount of iron in follow on milk can cause constipation and upset little tummies.

Sorry yes I should said she gets very constipated at times.

She’s 9 months old but still on stage one milk the health visitor said about not changing to the follow on milk as she will get extra iron from food that she is now eating and I do try to make sure she eats plenty of food to get extra iron required

It’s goid that’s she’s on the first stage milk. Your HV is right to tell you to stick to this Smile

Sorry to keep asking questions, does she have any mucus in her poo? Is she uncomfortable with the constipation?

Spam88 · 17/08/2018 05:50

Some foods can cause constipation - banana and eggs are big offenders, so might be worth avoiding those for a while. If the prunes aren't cutting it, most 'p' fruits will get things moving (plums are especially effective here!) or a lot of people find oranges help.

Spam88 · 17/08/2018 05:50

Oh and lots of tummy massages, always clockwise.

mummytobabygirl17 · 17/08/2018 13:31

No mucus just finds it very uncomfortable and puts so much effort into trying to go but nothing happens bless her.

Thank you spam88 I will try different fruits beginning with P and oranges.

If she’s just straining without pain it’s fine. Agree with not giving much banana or egg for a few days, you might also want to reduce bread and sweet potato too.

Is she having solids just 3 times a day? If she’s having more, you might want to reduce the amount of times she eats. It just coukd be that her bowels aren’t mature enough yet Smile
