BLW and super fussy?

Has anyone else done BLW and still have a super fussy toddler? My 18 month old will eat most white fish (most adventurous thing she will eat), bread, pasta, rice, cheese and chicken. She will occasionally eat a banana but that is literally the only bit of fruit or veg she will consume. I have offered her all sorts of different food since 6 months and it is so depressing wasting it all - I now give her any of the above and just offer other stuff from my plate that just goes on the floor.

Someone said to me I’ve ‘gone wrong’ somewhere along the way as BLW toddlers are never fussy Hmm I can’t imagine where I have gone wrong tbh!

Anyone else?!

Who said that to you? What utter tosh. My DD was BLW, totally her choice as she was a complete spoon refuser. She was terribly fussy and it took us a while to realise there were some sensory issues going on. For a long, long time she couldn’t cope with anything in a sauce, she’s still iffy about some sauces.

Have you read Help! My Child Won’t eat! It was out of print when my dad was a toddler but it’s supposed to be very good Smile

Same here and its so annoying! Both wasting food and the frustration of it all.... my sisters baby is 3 months older than mine, both BLW, both given veggies as first tastes etc, hers eats anything and everything really well. Mine? Barely eats and just wants the sweet stuff, doesn't like big lumps now, doesnt want to eat by himself, the list goes on! So I feel your pain Wink I keep trying to tell myself its nothing I have/havnt done but thats hard sometimes x

All kids go through fussy stages. That time just before 2 is usually particularly difficult. I would get her involved in helping you prep food. I used to stand mine on a chair at the counter next to me while I made dinner. Also don’t limit what you offer her. It really doesn’t matter if she doesn’t eat anything at a meal or two as long as she has a snack she likes at some point or a cup of milk later before bed. Doing one family meal even if it go

Sorry, baby posted for me! ...even if it got wasted was what worked for us. If you are just making one thing, whether it goes on the floor or she eats it, it’s no more waste. But it reinforces the pickiness when they know they’ll get what they like. You may have to be quite firm about it for a few months, but she really won’t starve.
