Been a big gap between my youngest two and advice is so different now
My baby ds is breastfed and has been having some purée for 3 weeks now each morning
Had a reaction so had a few ‘days off’ and is fine now.
He’s having about 1 dessertspoon of food so not much ! Interested to find out what other babies this age have. He’s tried baby rice, baby porridge, carrot, sweet potato, pea, parsnip and banana

My little girl is not a fan of anything that comes on a spoon, even fruit purées. She's quite good with finger foods though and so far likes toast, French toast, breadsticks with hummus, roasted veg (carrot, parsnip and sweet potato), mashed potato, cut up fruits. I gave her a big bit of crispy skin off a roast chicken earlier and she chewed and sucked that for ages.

Trying to stick with as healthy as possible but she has also swiped a scotch pancake off her brother and loved it, and was all over my ice lolly yesterday.

Ella's kitchen do large crisp stick things (consistency of a wotsit) which she loves.

I've tried a few savoury muffin recipes from Annabelle karmel but they didn't come out well at all. Need to try that again as there good finger foods to freeze.

I am feeling a little unsure at the mo. My 8 month old is happy healthy and the only (not issue) is that she can sometimes wake up at night. My mother in law has just had a huge rant at me about only giving her 3 bottles a day. My daughter eats 3 meals plus snacks. I have now been told I have insulted my mother in law as she thinks I am doing it because I don’t want her to be over weight. I now feel like a crap mum and that I am doing the totally wrong thing. I just thought I would ask opinions.

My dd is 7 months and she is eating me out of house and home! Toast, scrambled eggs, ham, cheese, any vegetable she looks at (broccoli and sprouts are particular favourites) including courgette, peppers, tomatos, any root vegetable, fish cakes, mashed potato, apple, pear, oranges, plum, peach (anything that’s hard I steam/cook) cous cous. I’ve not found anything she doesn’t like yet and she’ll give anything a go. I was going purées to begin with but they’re a bit of a faff if I’m honest now I just save her a portion of whatever me and oh have for tea and she has it the next day. So I’m now pretty much blw except for breakfast which is weetabix with formula. She still on 3 milk feeds and has snacks (baby crisps, waffers or similar) as well as water or diluted apple/orange juice.

Thank you. My DD is the same. She eats like a horse. She snacks during the day and her bottle feeds are sleep/nap times. It is so reassuring to hear that from someone else

I wouldn’t worry your lo is happy and healthy and that’s all that matters (in my book anyway). You mil did it her way and you’re doing it yours. I’d much rather have a baby that’s willing and wants to eat solids and that will try new things as some really struggle to get their lo’s to try anything at all!

Katy89 · 03/09/2018 12:07

It’s so nice to here it from other parents. Thank you guys

My LO is nearly 8 months old and having many more milk feeds than 3 a day. Like, between 6-7 a day! (BF)

He's on 3 meals a day but really hasn't taken well to anything the slightest bit lumpy/textured. He's okay with finger foods, but mashes with little bits in it are off putting to him. Purees are still fine.

For finger foods, he will suck on it mostly. Sweet potato (cooked), french toast sticks, cheese.... He gets frustrated with fruit that's too soft like avocado and banana because he grips it so hard it just falls to pieces in his hand. I'm never sure how much he's eating of finger foods because a fair bit does not end up in his mouth.

He's on the 91st centile for growth (height and weight).

Goats milk could be better for him in yoghurt or sauces ect. To be honest, I just didn't introduce any dairy untill nearly 12 months, they really don't need it with formula/breast feeding.
