Potato

I can't seem to get the consistency of potato right. I've tried mashing it, pureeing it, pushing it through a seive, but by the time it's been frozen and thawed it's geled back together and is far too lumpy for ds to take in.

Is there a secret to potato prep? (I'm a bad bad cook) or is it just supposed to be that lumpy and ds will have to get used to it?

Too true Devil, I always add pureed/mashed fruit to plain yoghurt.

Life is so much easier if you spend a couple of hours cooking once a fortnight & put all your foods in ice cube trays then into bags then you always have something ready.

I know NOTHING, feel free to simplify things a lot.

Clare, I was worried you'd think I was taking the mickey with my simple suggestions!

Cooking for babies is easy when you know how, my Boss is a fabulous cook but she was clueless (her word) when it came to making food for her dd until she was about 2yrs old!

My HV recommended sweet potatoe in place of potatoe as DD didn't like the consistency of mashed potatoe at all.

there's an excellent recipe for sweet potato wedges on the babyledweaning.com blog. i should know... it's my recipe. blooming lovely.

I think I've solved the potato problem so that it does only take 5 minutes. Put a small potato in the microwave for 2 minutes, scoop out the inside and mash up with formula, leave to cool and serve to delighted ds who grabs the spoon with both hands.

Sits back and waits for someone to tell me off for using a microwave
