If babies who are weaned by B.L.W. are good eaters when they are older. Is this fussy eating phenomenon to do with the way we wean in this country?
My 8 month old is B.L.W.and I can't imagine her ever being a fussy eater. She's got to grips with it now and loves her food so much.Is it because people hold back for too long with real food? I'd love to hear from people with older children who have been baby led weaned .

I think all kids have their fussy phases, no matter what their spoonist tendencies.

DS was a BLW baby but now at 2.10yrs is what I suppose a lot of people would call "fussy" as sometimes he eats loads & sometimes he doesnt. Sometimes he eats just veg & sometimes he eats just carbs & others he seems to survive on just meat & BM ....TBH I think that left to their own devices children (& adults for that matter) will just eat what they want & will instinctively crave what their body needs. So just eating carbs for a few days is fine as they usually have something else eventually, if they are offered it....So I guess what Im a saying is that by projecting our adult ideas about what everyone should be eating all children look like fussy eaters. It definately helps NOT to think of of every meal as needing to have carbs, veg & protein or even to think of the 5 fruit & veg a day - with young children its far far better to look over the course of a week - their diet looks quite balanced then

My ds is nearly 10 months now, blw'd and unlike at the beginning there's a LOT that he refuses now (gets thrown on floor, at me, etc...). I suspect we can have an influence by the way we feed them and the way we react to their behaviour, but they'll have their phases of being into/going off things and in the end they will surely have their own tastes!

My daughter ate anything I gave her as a baby then at four she got a bit more fussy. Weaning babies with fingers foods rather than puree's aren't going to shape a lifetime of eating habits.
