Try not to worry too much ,sounds ok to me ,this may be pretty normal for your ds,dd2's bowel movements vary all the time.
Try giving him weetabix or apricots that will 'help' him along so to speak.
Be warned though weetabix comes out just as bloody sticky as it goes in

We've had exactly the same problem, we have been BLW for about 6 weeks now. Earlier this week DS was straining and looking at me as if to say MUM! HELP! and his poo was quite solid.

I gave him some dried apricots that I had soaked in hot water - he loved them and ever since his poo has been pasty and much easier for him!

Vomiting LOL at 'pasty' and 'bloody sticky'

dd always had the other problem, iykwim? [vom] i think the thing to do is make sure there's plenty of water around and make sure lots of fruit is being eaten.

I don't think there is such a thing as "normal" poo! My twins are a great example - one does soft brown ones and the other black rabbit pellets (sorry if TMI !!). They both eat the same food and drink.

As long as he's eating a balanced diet I wouldn't worry. Lots of babies strain and it doesn't always mean they're constipated

how funny, gb.

see, the thing about fresh fruit is that although people tend to recommend dried fruit for constipation it is quite high in iron, a surfeit of which can cause babies to become, er, constipated. so it's a tricky one. so lots of water or rehydrating is good if you're doing the prune thing.
i think the sweet tooth thing is bullshit, btw. dd loves sweet things but would still rather have cucumber than a biscuit, the little freak.

but only organic cucumber, oddly enough. she's right you know, it's on the list of things that taste better if organic...
