HV told us to start cutting down DS milk. How?

Our DS has shot up on his growth chart, nothing massive, he was below the 50th and now above the 50th but HV is concerned at how DS, who is nearly 11 months, is now drinking nearly 1000mls a day in milk along with his weight gain (he is only on 35th centile for length so he is on the porkier side I guess?). Routine is below:

06.30 6oz
07.00 Breakfast
10.00 Snack
11.30 6oz
12.00 lunch
14.30 6oz
18.30 8oz
22.00 6oz

I thought milk is most important before 1 years old but he is drinking double the recommended amount and I am unsure on how to start taking his bottles away, as recommended by the HV (she just said to stop giving it to him!)? I have tried to skip them but he cries for them, proper tears and all, so I always give in! I know I don't like being hungry.

We have done BLW and he seems pretty good with his food. But I recently compared what he eats to his (still) spoon fed friends I can see he isn't eating as well as I thought (although his spoon and fork skills are impressive at least).

Any ideas or suggestions? We did try to offer water instead but that was a fail.

Definitely try watering the milk down, my DD was a real milk fiend and has never been a great eater (even now at almost 3) however she gradually weaned herself off milk but before that she was drinking 70% water in her bottle, we just gradually added an extra oz of water every few days, she got to the point where she wouldn't drink 'straight' milk!

You distract the tears with a small snack or water......

Lastly you don't have to do everything that a hv tells you to! X

'Lastly you don't have to do everything that a hv tells you to!'

This!

Replace the 11.30 bottle with a snack.

Another thing to consider is that if you are planning to move him onto cows milk after twelve months he may naturally cut down his milk intake because of the milk tasting slightly different to what he's used to.

Mine loved milk especially dd. They were both roly poly at that age. They grew up beautifully slim.

I'd take no notice whatsoever if I were you. HV "advice" changes like the wind. I stopped listening when mine instructed me to breast feed but said she wasn't an expert when I asked for help. Also told me that grommets were pointless when ds had had 11 ear infections at 13 months. Not what a consultant ent surgeon said and had they been pointless ds's wellbeing wouldn't automatically have improved.

Yeah tbh have had very conflicting advice from HVs myself. Including how I should have started weaning at 4 months.... (tbf that was a different HV than the one who gave me most recent advice)
