7 + Month Old Refusing Weaning

My 7 month old baby girl refuses to wean, cries and spits out/gags at whatever puree is given to her. BLW hasn't been a roaring sucess either, as she just throws everything on the floor (happy dog though) or ignores it all together. I've made loads of delicious purees, steamed/roasted/toasted all of the veggies/breads/fruits. Offered those weaning snacks and organic weaning fromage frais. But nothing is working!!! She grabs at my food, but then just cries and throws it on the floor. She was born a month early and has reflux but surely she'd be interested in some food by now? The only thing she has semi tolerated is an Ella's Kitchen mango pouch. These can't be very good though right? Or do I just say eff it and buy all the pouches??

Food before 1 is just for fun, let her wear it if she wants. Don’t stress, she will eat food eventually.

I haven't got any amazing advice regarding weaning except to try eating together and show her that eating is fun! It doesn't particularly matter how much she eats at this stage, it's more about exploring and practising. The other thing was just regarding the Ella's kitchen - they were my pouch of choice because they are just the same as producing the purée/meal yourself. Also really convenient for taking out with you. The Heinz/Hipp jars are utterly revolting and basically all taste of spaghetti hoops regardless of flavour Hmm. We didn't do BLW as started at 4 months but with DC2 I will be trying my best to wait until 6 months and try BLW.

Don't worry about it - neither of mine really 'got' food til they were well over a year - they didn't seem to realise it was for eating when you're hungry... And my oldest also had a very strong gag reflex for ages and used to gag even on really soft stuff, even on those organix baby biscuits that all the other kids seemed to love...

I just gave them plenty of little tastes of different things and made sure they had plenty of milk to fill them up. It's one of the (many!) things you can worry about as a parent especially as if you have a reluctant eater, you'll always seem to meet a six month old who's on three full meals a day Grin Don't make it a stressful thing, don't have 'mealtimes' for her, just give her little tastes of something whenever you are eating - a bit of puréed something on a spoon, a bit of soft banana, a rusk, whatever. And I relied heavily on good old Ella and her kitchen and now (age 3 and 6) they'll eat nearly anything so don't stress about that either!
