BLW what to do for lunch?!?

My baby is 7 months old and very fussy. He will only eat something if it's long he can grab onto. So stuck on lunch ideas. He hates pasta and most things. What would be good sandwich fillings and other ideas too appreciated. Very stressed. Been told to skip the purée stage completely and he doesn't take to a spoon at all

I do:
Soft cheese sandwiches
Banana on bread or toast
Avocado on bread or toast
Eggy bread
Scrambled egg she eats herself
Pinwheels (check google, they’re amazing)
Boiled egg cut up
Avocado cut up
Cheese on toast
Grated cheese sandwich
Omlette cut up
Houmous on toast

Don’t be stressed. At all. That’s the biggest mistake you’re making. He’s only seven months. If he doesn’t eat it, it really doesn’t matter. At this stage it’s not about ‘having lunch’ as such, it’s justban opportunity for him to explore some foods. So pop some of whatever you’re having on his tray. If he eats it, great, but if he juts squishes it, smells it, explores it then has milk, that’s really fine too.

Pastry pinwheels, quiche, savoury eggs, savoury muffins, etc. Try the baby led weaning app (it's pink, created by Natalie Peale). There's a support group on Facebook too - search for baby led weaning app support.

I did baby led weaning with my Daughter and it has been brilliant, she eats really well and will try most things. It can seem slow at the start tho, don't worry if your son doesn't eat or try much to begin with, it just takes them time to be used to it.

Generally I'd keep bits of our dinner for lunch and would bear that in mind when cooking so would include veg cut into batons rather than circles etc.

How about sweetcorn fritters? There are some nice recipes online - ds ate them from around 7 months. He also liked courgette fritters. You can make them into longer lengths to make it easier for him to grab or make big ones and cut them with scissors?

I also give ds a thin spread of Marmite in a sarnie or some cream cheese, he also likes low sugar jam. He has eaten peanut butter from an early age so sometimes has that but I don't think it is advised too early.

Mini sweetcorns are long and easy to eat once well cooked.

Second baby here and he just has a bit of everything we have as long as it’s not too salty. First baby had purées but with this one I have no time to sit and spoon feed so have no choice but to put bits down on the high chair while I sort the house or other DS (always with one eye for choking though and always sit together at table in the evening).
For lunch he likes crumpets with cheese cubes (low salt) or chicken breast and veg, pitta and advacado, scrambled egg and cream cheese sandwiches but will give him whatever we have in. Pancakes are also a favourite and if you grate some veg (carrot and courgette) into the mix you have little fritters which go down well.

Crosspost with Breadbaker about the fritters!

Having done 2 kids on lovingly crafted pots of goo & one on BLW (which for me largely = 'oh I'm so over filling my freezer with carrot & spinach puree, ffs, if I'm eating those things dd2 can help herself')...

...I'd honestly say: you eat normally. Don't put lots of salt on anything. Give the baby anything you might be eating that they fancy a chew on.

Anything before 1 that isn't milk is a bonus!

Just, well, chill & let the kid grab bits off your plate. Next thing you know they'll be eating the same as the rest of the family & you'll vaguely wonder why you even gave it head space.

I tended to give whatever I was having for lunch really although these cheese straws were popular Smile
