Refusing food

Need advice! Nearly 9 month old has completely started to refuse being spoon fed. Lips clamped, head turned, nothing going in! So have tried giving more finger foods (have always given a few but stepped it up) however they're all just being mushed or thrown. He's basically gone back to formula only. What do I do? Wait it out and keep offering spoon, swap to finger foods and hope he eats some?? Ftm and a bit stressed, need ideas

I'd wait it out - maybe he is teething or coming down with a bit of a cold. Keep offering, maybe try some new/different foods to see if you can entice him! I am finding weaning stressful but I recently read that weaning isn't a linear process and it's fine if it's a bit stop/start. That reassured me greatly. My 8.5month old recently lost interest in food but today he's eaten like a champ so I guess they just go through phases.

Will he take finger foods?

He used to eat like a star!! All gone out the window recently and tonight even fighting having milk so possibly teeth or coming down with something. He's up and down with finger foods, toast and ellas kitchen puffs are always a bit but other things vary wildly!

Anybody any ideas? We stopped all solids for 24hrs as tummy was a bit off. Went back on and ate great for 2 days. Now back at square 1. Won't take spoon or finger foods but obvs hungry at night. Help!

I had this with Dd2 from 5 months (advice on weaninv was different then!) and was so annoyed one day that at 6 months I put my cheese and cucumber sarnie down in front of her. She promptly ate the whole thing, including cucumber slices, without teeth. She had nothing mushed after that point.

I think that at 9 months I wouldn’t worry too much about being hungry, as he’ll eat if hungry enough. I wouldn’t offer milk at night though.

Could he be teething? This seems to effect my baby's appetite.

I agree , wait it out. Continue to sit and eat with him and put a few bits from your plate onto his tray. No cajoling , if he likes yoghurts you could put one in table to see if it interests him. He'll soon start again, and I agree he may be teething or have a sore mouth/ throat .
