9mo has stopped feeding herself

Hi, my daughter is nearly 9 months old and I started weaning her at 6 months. I started her on purees for a few days and we soon moved to lumpier purees and finger foods she could feed herself. She was great at feeding herself, from day one we tried it, she was really interested and putting everything in her mouth. We haven't followed the blw approach 100%, sometimes we would give her a puree if we don't have much time and obviously when we are out and about, but I tried to give her food to feed herself at least every other day for her to get the hung of it. She was absolutely fine with this mixed approach and will both take the purees and the finger foods.
I had a very bad week last week, with headaches all the time and I didn't have the energy to cook and being with her for nearly an hour each time she feeds herself, so I spoon fed her for the whole week (she ests a puree in 15 minutes). Next time I gave her finger foods -that was 2 days ago- she had lost interest in feeding herself. She was picking some things up and looking at them, babbling at them, turning them around in her fingers but wouldn't put them in her mouth...after a while she would get quite upset and cry and scream...has anyone had a similar problem? Has she forgotten how to feed herself or has she just become lazy because too much spoon feeding??

Have you tried picking it up and offering it to her?

Little plastic forks!! She can be on with a bit on a fork while you spoon also.

I’d say she’s got lazy, why do it when you can do it for her? Smile

Do you have any concerns about her weight at all? If she’s stable in her centiles I’d keep feeding her for now and offer finger food at the same time. You could try giving smaller portions of the mashed food and I’d also try feeding her a spoonful, then loading the spoon for her while you eat your food. If you’re a bit slow with feeding her she may get frustrated, she may let you know she doesn’t like it, but she may also get bored enough to feed herself some little bits Smile

Yes, I let her do whatever she wants for the first 10 minutes or so and then I help her picking things up and puting them near her hand. Sometimes she desn't even seem interested in picking them up and when she does she doesn't take them to her mouth. It is so frustrating as she didn't have any problems with this before

Her weight is good, in fact her centile has been increasing since she started with solids at 6 months. I think I will give her some finger foods with every meal, even if it is not much to get her used to it again. Maybe some soft cheese on tast which she loves will do the trick!
