and won't eat anythign but fruit, yoghurt, cereal, toast and rice cakes. whilst she was ill a few weeks back we fed her these things as we wanted her to eat and have energy while she was sick but its backfired on us.

we've been brutal and stopped all sweet stuff and have only offered savoury for the past 3 days. she's only have tiny amounts and is pretty upset that she's not getting the sweet stuff. and is only happy when she gets her milk.

i feel awful but am thinking the only way to get her to eat a balanced diet is to cut out sweet stuff until she starts taking savoury food. has anyone else had this problem? any ideas? please help!!! thanks

She's a bit little to be worrying about that just yet. She doesn't need a "balanced diet" at this age; milk should still be her main source of nutrition, so tiny amounts of whatever she'll eat are fine.

They have a sweet-ish tooth at that age really, milk is sweet so it's what they're used to.

Go easy on her, let her have her sweet stuff. Keep giving the savoury as well, but don't put her off food altogether by only giving her stuff she doesn't want.

You could try offering some savoury after the sweet stuff - it works for my little one.

thanks v much. it turns out she's rejected the sweet stuff now as well.
i think she's coming down with something as she's had loose nappies today. poor thing. i feel so mean now.
