Heating home made purée

I think I already know the answer to this but just checking, since my brain doesn't seem to function that well anymore!!!

I've made a chicken casserole (no salt or stock) and puréed it. It's cooling in the fridge.

Obviously baby will want it warm, so will I have to heat it up to volcanic temperature to be safe and then let it cool to room temperature for him to eat???

I swear broken sleep is killing my brain cells Confused

Have you given it to him tonight?

revelsandrose · 10/09/2017 19:44

No it's for tomorrow and I'm going to freeze some.

Unfortunately, yes, you have to micro heat it to volcanic temps to kill the bacteria but then you also kill the nutrients thus making it all rather pointless. Have you tried baby led weaning? It's alot easier, saves time, energy and allows your baby to enjoy nutricious foods without the processing.

Yes Im doing a mix of baby led weaning, I was making a casserole for the rest of the family and thought I'd try ds3 with some of that tomorrow to see what he thinks. Just couldn't remember the protocol for reheating, especially with it being Chicken! Don't want to give him food poisoning due to sleep deprivation Smile
