DD 6.5 months had some salmon yesterday and almost instantly developed some red blotchy patches around her mouth. I dabbed a little on her arm and she got a red blotch there too. Does this look like a allergic reaction? Today she's covered in a rash (which isn't out of the ordinary actually because it's linked to her eczema) however not sure if it's linked to the fish incident or that she's had a fair bit of dairy today. Just wondering if anyone else has encountered this?

Was it smoked or fresh?
Don't want to critisise your choices, but if she's got ezcema why are you giving her fish and dairy so young? I went very slowly with DD1 and she developed ezcema at 10 mo, just when i introduced dairy...
I'm following a list of what foods, and when, to introduce for allergic infants that someone gave me on here, i'll look for it if you're interested.

i mean, im following the list for DD2

terramum · 30/03/2007 21:48

This list you mean?

Malaleche · 30/03/2007 22:19

yes, thanks if it was you terramum who gave it to me originally, however, DD2 6.5 mo is not that interested in eating yet, prefers to blow raspberries with mouth full of pap... so have decided not to bother stressing myself about weaning and just gave her tastes of things till she shows a bit more interest...

I've had eczema all my life.It doesn't go hand in hand with dairy intolerance or dairy allergy.
It's true, for some who have eczema, they have dairy allergy, but others with eczema don't.
Yes you should be cautious with a young baby with skin problems of any kind with such rich foods, but trying them with a little dairy won't hurt them, unless they are intolerant.
Not sure about fish though,I'd leave it for a while

Thanks everyone, HV said I shouldn't avoid trying them and obviously I've only tried tiny amounts. I may seem mean but I actually think it's useful to find out what food is triggering the eczema, if in fact anything is at all so that I can make sure she has a balanced diet. No point excluding something for a year or so if it's not a problem iyswim.
