10 month old won't drink water

My 10 month old used to sip a bit of water at mealtimes when first weaned (6months) but this only really lasted a month or so.

Now he turns his head from the beaker and will not drink ANY water. It makes me worry so much!! I give him lots of food with fluids in and fruit but he literally will go a weeks without a drop of water from his cup.

I've tried leaving him with cup instead of offering it to him, leaving sippy cups on his playmat, tried several different types of beaker to see if that helped but no!

Argh, any advice?

Ps have also tried (reluctantly) diluting some baby juice but he still isn't interested!

Does he show interest in your drinks? My son can refuse a sip from his own cup but then reach out when I go to put a glass or cup to my lips, and will take a drink from that if it's something he's allowed to have. Have you tried a straw? Or something like a syringe that you can play with and squirt into his mouth as part of the game?

You don't mention any signs of dehydration, assuming he isn't showing any then he must be getting what he needs from his food. Is he still having milk?

OP I'm in exact same position. DD refuses water / baby juice / anything that's not milk. Watching with interest.

He does have quite dry constipated type poo sometimes. He has 3 bottles a day but doesn't drink all of it. Each bottle is 200ml and he drinks about 440ml a day.

I've had a tiny bit of success with a straw cup by trying to make it a bit of a game with me slurping it and making funny noises and then he has copied me...

Hoping he will take to it a bit more!!

It sounds like you are doing all the right things; I would carry on with as much encouragement as you can and he will figure it out. Keep an eye on his nappies and if he goes for hours without peeing you need to seek medical attention, they take dehydration seriously in young children so you will get the help you need.
Keep us posted with how you get on, and try not to worry! Easier said than done, I know!

Have you tried a doidy cup? My DS finds it much easier than sippy cups

Cheers from me aswell on the open cup idea. Also seems to help encourage her sipping if I sit and use a cup too. Babycup First Cups worked wonders for my DS. Found easier than a sippy and good fit for DS's mouth.
