Weaning going almost too well, too much, too soon?

My DS is 5.5 months. Showing signs of readiness etc. So I started weaning him about a week ago. I did BLW last time but can't really be bothered to follow all the rules so I'm just doing a bit of a mix of things now - finger foods, mushed food and some pouches for convenience!

Anyway, he's taken to it like a duck to water he's so good at it. He can feed himself with a spoon even (although I also spoon). Chews things and normally eats everything! Loads loads quicker to pick it up than my daughter.

However, he's fussing with his milk and really does not seem interested. I feel like he wants more solids but I'm worried about rushing him?? Should I just stick to 1 meal per day for a while? Should he only be having fruit and veg?

I don't want him to be hungry or force feed him milk but I don't want to rush him either.. but he really seems ready for it.

Give him milk before food. Also plenty of dairy in his food - cheese, butter, yogurt

Following this with interest as I have had similar worries with my DS. He likes his solids and has been cutting down milk intake. I think we need to be careful, they should still drink about 500-600ml milk a day to meet calcium requirements for their growing little bodies... but apart from that, he just eats almost everything and seems to want more and more, but I don't want to overfeed him! How much is too much, right

So I called the HV and she just said to crack on and get him up to 3 meals a day. I said that I still needed to make sure he had his milk but she just kinda dismissed that and said to give him a bottle as a top up to his meal, not the other way around.

Mine is still having about 30oz of milk but yes, I think 20oz as a minimum and then as PP says of they won't have that make sure they have dairy.
