Finger food

DS is happily guzzling puree now and I'm keen to introduce finger foods.

What I can't figure out is what size and shape to cut them (to enable him to eat and to reduce choking risk).

Little batons? (like those pre cut carrots you get in the supermarket)
Small pieces?
Large chunks he can hold and gnaw?

Any advice welcome - thanks!

About the size and shape of your finger is ideal. But generally I would lean towards larger rather than small pieces initially. The pincer grip needed to pick up small things doesn't usually develop till around 8-10 months. Once it develops though, items like peas are great fun for watching the intense concentration on their face as they try to pick them up!

Brilliant, thanks.

He's actually 9 months old - but was 6 weeks premature so is 7.5 mo corrected. So it's a combo of starting weaning early but also being patient while he develops necessary skills.
