So first it was spoon refusal. fine. I made roast chicken, roast veg and the boy was happy. Today all food has been spat out or chucked on the floor UNLESS he eats it while sitting in his walker thing. Must have mug tattooed on forehead but am so desperate to have a full night's sleep and not be woken by hungry boy at 4am that I've given him tea in front of telly. GRRRRRRRRRRR
He's 10 months by the way. Might not make it to 11 if he doesn't buck his ideas up

Could you delay the evening meal by about 15 minutes to see if he's more hungry?

deaconblue · 13/03/2007 22:04

I've tried making the meals a bit later. Had started giving him snacks to stop the waking up at night but am wondering if that's making the meal time thing worse. Had upped his daytime milk for same reason. think maybe I should cut snacks and go back to 3 bottles and then maybe he'll eat more lunch and dinner. All so complicated

I would have thought cutting down the milk would make him inclined to eat more solid food.

When mine were that age I just took them in bed with me if they woke in the night and bf lying down. I never knew how much milk they had, just trusted them to take what they needed so can't advise you about bottles.

I think you're right. Am going to start today afresh and cut back on the milk and be a bit more patient at meal times. He's got a cold too so it may just be that the food doesn't taste very good at the moment

Not nice for a lo to have a cold. Milk (ordinary cow's or formula) causes increase in mucus so another reason to cut back.

Thnak you for such sensible advice. Doing ok on less milk so far although it's bound to take a while b efore it has a knock on effect on the food consumption. Cheers again
