Going Very well banana, nectarine, cucumber and broccoli are DD's favourites so far....just wondering (I know aitch I posted a similar question before ) she seems to prefer to lean in and munch what is in my hand (we eat the same thing together and she reaches out to pull my hands to her mouth)should I just go with it and hope she starts to pick up more and feed herself or encourage her to do it herself more???
She does pick a little up and gum it but def' prefers to eat what's in my hand

as i said before (fgs! it's aitch) i so don't think it's a problem... just make sure there's some on the highchair tray and once she gets the drift she'll pick stuff up.

TheJAM · 08/03/2007 16:44

is that you aitch?

I know, I know but now it's whatever food we have...just want to really do the whole BLW right...not feed her and call it BLW IYKWIM....(and acronym's, loads of fecking acronyms )

ach, tish and pish. it is supposed to be baby led, so imho i think that the leaning in and grabbing your hand is fine. i must post photos of dd doing that when she started off.

On the subject of grabbing your food, a pureeing friend of mine observed ds getting very upset when I wouldn't let him have the bit of cake I was eating. Apparently it proved the foolishness of BLWing - "That's what you get if you encourage him to take food for himself!" So now I'm cruel for not letting him have everything I'm eating...

AitchYouBerk · 08/03/2007 19:37

PMSL blitzer.

CantSlimWontSlim · 08/03/2007 22:58

I try not to eat anything in front of dd that she's not allowed to have blitzer, then you avoid the problem. I'd have just given her a tiny bit of cake tbh!

dd spent months not picking anything up, but grabbing my hand. I did start to get worried she might never feed herself, but then it just happened and now I can't stop her . I think dd was possibly about 9 months when she happily fed herself.
