Should I stop worrying

Hi my DD is nearly 9 months and I have been trying to wean her for the last 3 months. We started off badly wouldn't let us near her with a spoon, then we tried BLW which has been a little more successful and she will now let me feed her yoghurt off a spoon. However, for the last few days she doesn't want anything apart from cereal biscuits and rice cakes with hummus on. I have tried loads of the recipes of the BLW blog and other finger food and she will sometimes have a little bit but most of the time it ends up on the floor. Now she is not a small baby in fact she has always been on the 90th percentile, but I am worried she is not getting enough vitamins (just stopped bf as she started to bite me)and that she is going to grow up to be a fussy eater. I think part of the problem is that she is teething, but I am starting to dread mealtimes.

oh you poor thing. what's she like with plain veggies like broccoli? or pasta and pesto? does she enjoy frozen peas? banana? to me rice cakse and hummus sounds pretty good. but then dd can't stand hummus now...
my dd stops eating when teething, as it happens i'm not so worried about vits, but you can buy vitamin liquids to add to water or whatever if it's stressing you out.

Thanks for your message. I think I need to stop worrying as it doesn't help does it. She is definitely teething as I can feel a tooth coming through. We are going on holiday on Wednesday so hopefully that will help us all (when I stop worrying about the flight!).

Teething is a nightmare! my dd (also 9 months) went through this when 4 teeth came at once. She went off her milk too and wouldn't entertain much near her mouth at all.

Try to relax they will eat when they feel better.

I would keep offering food but don't panic if she isn't interested. It is worrying but i don't think this is a sign of a fussy eater in the future.

You have the terrible twos yet... my ds was a nightmare but with peserverance (sp?) he ate his food and broccoli (because it makes power rangers big and strong ) and at 7 he is the best eater ever!

Hope she is better soon x

Hi I'm brand new to the site and have joined because my husband and I are a bit desperate to know what to do. We have a DD of 10 months old who has most of the time done really well with food. She's always been a bit choosey - having her favourites!-but as these included spaghetti bolognese and tuna pasta bake we didn't mind that her diet was a bit limited. She loves yoghurt and rice cakes and a variety of fruit - not too keen on veg but broccoli was ok. However all of a sudden we can't get anything down her other than rice cakes, bread and yoghurt. She'll let one mouthful of food in and then adamently refuses with real cries and sobs - all rather distressing. We think some of it is a fierce independent streak as she will put a spoon in her mouth herself but is too young to actually be very effective! We've gone through phases with teething of not much food going in but never like this. Do we allow her to just eat yoghurt and rice cakes or are we setting ourselves up for problems? Help

Poor you. It is so stressful isn't. No matter how much you try not to get stressed. I think you should just let her have what she wants for a while. Can you put anything on the bread and rice cakes? My DD when not wanting to eat tries to take stuff off the bread. However, she is back to eating a bit more today thank God.

My DD has gone off eating just now and reading all the replies it must be her teeth. The top 4 have all come at once. She likes cream cheese ie phillaedelphia (not sure if your supposed to give it to them but she eats it). Or maybe mushed up banana, avocado or even a very thin bit of jam. Good luck.

Hi, thanks for suggestions - have tried philladelphia a couple of times - she'll eat a bit on bread! Typically however I picked her up from nursery on Monday to be told she'd eaten all her dinner!!! Chilli!! I have chilled a bit and now offer her finger food to start with. Then tonight we did better taking it in turns with the spoon! I have a suspicious feeling I have a DD with a strong will! Glad to hear things are a bit better for you MishMoo!
