ooh that's great. although i am a little at the un-halfed grape on the table!

harpsichordcarrier · 28/02/2007 20:27

that is so cool
look! babies EATING FOOD! NOT MUSH! NO SPOONS!
it's all new fangled nonsense I tell you

PrisonerCellBlockAitch · 28/02/2007 20:30

i've added that to the blog for everyone else to see. cheers.

Nockney · 28/02/2007 20:31

That's a sweet video. It's an excerpt from a DVD someone's selling, obviously.

It's always cheering to see people work out how to make money off the simplest things ... yay capitalism!

PrisonerCellBlockAitch · 28/02/2007 20:35

oh fgs it's a video that has been made by Gill Rapley, it sells for £25 a throw and is primarily aimed at health authorities, although obviously if anyone wants to buy it they can. i'd be directing my ire at Annabel Karmel, tbh, she's the one with her own pastel-coloured stick blender and tupperware tubs with loose lids.

Nockney · 28/02/2007 21:07

Hey, if people can start making money off blw, they will promote it, and it will (effectively) do it some good.

Fair enough, it being Gill Rapely, though, hadn't realised that.

Pritch · 28/02/2007 21:52

i know, i really don't resent her making a bit of cash off this.

Autumn78 · 03/03/2007 22:03

I watched the DVD you mentioned and although it was short and cost a lot of money, I did find it reassuring to SEE how BLW works.

So much so, that I tried my son today on whole carrot and he ate half of one! Amazing!!

What a great video. Can't get over how tidy that bubbs is compared to mine! Impressed by the whole apple thing. That's the one thing i'm still worried about. Still giving DD tinned apple slices. Any idea when's a good age to offer a whole apple? I know Aitch has tried it????

caspercat · 04/03/2007 19:22

bump

Enid · 04/03/2007 19:31

yeah great

she's made cash out of telling us how to feed our kids

way to go

Enid · 04/03/2007 19:36

i particularly liked

'in fact, he will almost be as good at feeding himself as the rest of the family'

yes as long as the rest of the family have REALLY bad table manners and can't work out which end of the fork to use

caspercat · 04/03/2007 20:41

Yeah, and AK made money out of telling us how to puree pear!

FYI , dd (7mths old) can eat a real, proper pear and definitely knows one end of a spoon from the other. I wouldn't feel it important to point this out if people didn't have such an issue with BLW.

AitchTwoOh · 04/03/2007 22:25

to answer your earlier question, casper, i think by about 9 months we were sharing an apple. but it had more to do with the fact that her front top and bottom teeht were in than her age, iykwim?

Autumn78 · 04/03/2007 22:41

AITCH That's good to know about the apple. I was wondering the same thing. Maybe baby could have steamed apple, until teeth kick in?!?

Anyway, my ds has his two front bottom teeth, so not long now.

OP posts:
BizzyDint · 04/03/2007 22:42

or grate the apple. dd loves grated apple. not tried her with whole apple yet.

Autumn78 · 04/03/2007 22:50

Also to add. I don't think there's anything wrong with making weaning books, DVD's etc. For thoes who are unsure or need help, it's great.

These people have gone to college, uni etc, gotton experience and used their time to make info for others. They deserve to get money for their time and I'm sure the families involved are not doing it for nothing.

They were not falsed to involve their children in studies. The same way that parents are not falsed to buy the materials.

Problem is, if some people have problems with these materials, then you have to look at other areas, like child modelling and acting too.

I guess I am biest, because I'm one of thoes parents who feels they need the extra help and will buy DVD's, books, use forums etc.
