Hi, I've bought the food cube tray and I can't get the lids to fit, either empty or full. Anyone else use it? Should they be fully sealed. I already feel like I have "DUMMY" stamped on my forehead!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks.

Hi Ashling

No you're not a dummy, I've got these trays and the lids don't fit snugly, they just sort of sit on top. You'll find that the lid sort of seals itself on once it's been in the freezer

I've bought these & found they are rubbish, the lids haven't stayed on in my freezer, so tomorrow I'm going to complain !

I found the cubes too big as well. My faves are the little pots with lids & I'm trying to get the jojo manan bebe ones which have individual lids.

woolies has great little cube tupperwares on offer at the mo. 6 for £1.

Hi girls I emailed the AK website and got a very nice email back explaining that the trays are manufactured from flexible silicone to allow easy removal of the contents when frozen.
The lids give stability to the trays and are supplied to cover and protect the food and also allow the trays to be stacked in the freezer but are not intended to fit tightly because of the flexible nature of the trays. They're going to send me some complimentary ramekins. Have to say that I was impressed the way they responded so quickly and thoroughly to my email (or maybe I'm just relieved that I'm not the only gobshite who couldn't get the lids to snap on!)

I have bought some food cube tray things from bumpto3. You can get free delivery by quoting TRILET3 - delivery was really quick too.

food cube tray where each cube has its own lid

I have just bought these and am not too impressed so far. Lids aside, the cubes smell funny - has anyone found out whether the smell taints the flavour of the food? I haven't used them yet. Also, they are not dishwasher or microwave proof. As I am weaning my five month old a little earlier than I had expected, I am still concerned that I need to sterilise everything. But the instructions for use just state washing with hot soapy water. What do other mums do? I am debating whether to take them back and get the individual lidded ones from blooming marvellous.

MrsBadger · 18/04/2007 11:39

Niyati, you don't need to sterilise them, hot soapy water is fine.

ues an empty yog pot fgs

IMO you would be better off just using normal ice cube trays or normal tupperware / lock and lock / clip and close type small pots that you can use forever and ever and not just for freezing baby purees. Those baby cube things will be gathering dust in your kitchen somewhere in a few weeks!!

Surfermum · 18/04/2007 11:40

I used ice cube trays and put them in the dishwasher to clean them.

BizzyDint · 18/04/2007 11:41

have you all bought AK's baby pasta too?

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 18/04/2007 11:42

They have little boxes in lakeland - just big enough for a weaning baby's meal

Surfermum · 18/04/2007 11:44

And if I didn't want to cook enough to fill a whole tray, or was freezing our leftovers for her I'd use washed out yoghurt pots. The Yeo Valley ones were good for that.

AitchTwoOh · 18/04/2007 11:50

it's a good point about the individual tupperwares, we use them all the time for raisins and ricecakes etc for the buggy, so you'll get more use out of them than a specific freezer set. i really do recommend the woolies ones.
