ds is almost 9 months, and hardly eats any breakfast. He used to have a bit of toast with butter followed by fruit puree or yogurt. Hes now refusing toast..hes never liked porrige, muesli, baby rice or weetabix...oh and have also tried rusks with milk but no success...he is pretty fussy oh i do blw and feed him with my hands/spoon so all ideas would be welcome..thanks!

Brioche?

funnypeculiar · 26/02/2007 20:25

lol, yes saucymoo (have a mate who says the world divides into those who eat eggy bread & those who eat french toast!!)

CanSleepWeirdShifts · 26/02/2007 22:28

Raisin wheats - add milk, warm slightly in microwave as it helps them soften, then they can feed themselves.

SaucyMoo · 27/02/2007 11:25

i gave him 'french toast' with banana and cinamon as you suggested, he ate about a quarter of those small warburton slices (i ate the rest, yum!) ah well, will keep trying..he doesnt seem to like milky/cereal type things, but will try raisin wheats..thanks

apricot wheats

sooooooooooo popular here

dd3 rejects raisin wheats

dh mixes them in and she bites one, then throws it ont he floor, only eats it if it is an apricot one

MrsBadger · 27/02/2007 11:30

other toasted things?
pitta? crumpets? english muffins? bagels?
Raisin bread is hugely popular in this neck of the woods...

CanSleepWeirdShifts · 27/02/2007 12:31

The apricot ones are packed with sugar paste, rather than actual apricot though, which is why I avoid those.

My DS didnt eat breakfast until he was over a year old really... he was just too full after his first milk feed of the day...it wasnt until he started walking & needing more calories that he started eating more than just nibbles at breakfast...

Enid · 27/02/2007 18:39

no wonder she loves them (they only have a tinsy amount more sugar per 100g than the raisin ones - I checked)

deaconblue · 28/02/2007 13:26

DS 10 months has always refused cereal, he has a big bowl of fruit puree or a banana or a yoghurt for breakfast

SaucyMoo · 28/02/2007 15:53

really? so hes not the only one..
i started to relax about breakfast until he started to become even more fussy with lunch...he had 2 bites of his tuna n squash couscous...and wouldnt eat the banana and avacado (but dont blame him for that one-it looked disgusting) so ended up giving him a few spoonfuls of blueberry puree from cow n gate which he always likes!

wouldnt mind too much about breakfast if he had a proper lunch!

what time is breakfast? Perhaps wait a little later before offering so he is more hungry?

Enid · 28/02/2007 16:00

tuna and squashc couscous

boak

SaucyMoo · 28/02/2007 16:09

breakfast is sometimes before his feed and sometimes after as he still gets up at night for a feed and depending on what time i feed him last, i then offer him milk accordingly iyswim.....what does 'boak' mean!?

going on a different tangent here, am i the only mum on MN who feeds non-mush non-pureed food with my hand-so no spoon but not blw either!? thats the only way he eats-he hates pureed stuff but doesnt usually pick up food himself until ive offered it myself and when he gets full (or bored) he wants to play with it himself..he has issues!!

bogie · 28/02/2007 16:12

ds is really fussy he only has grapes or blueberries for breakfast oh and somtines a yoghart

deaconblue · 28/02/2007 21:18

I think perhaps they're at the age when they begin to exert control over food. Ds happily ate anything and everything off a spoon (other than cereal which he has always refused) until recently. Now he only will eat proper food, but even then if I offer it to him it gets rejected so I have to put it down and let him get on with it himself. Perhaps your ds is just going through a phase too.

CanSleepWeirdShifts · 01/03/2007 21:30

I think you'll find that 'boak' was the sound of Enid throwing up!

I doubt that you're the only one hand feeding SM, but not me - dd decided that full on blw was the ONLY way that she was prepared to eat.

SaucyMoo · 02/03/2007 10:01

he doesnt really pick it up himself unless i give him some first..each to their own eh!

tuna couscous was nice!

i gave him croissant this morning, which he seemed to like, still ate a tiny amount but better than nothing!
