I have read all the advice on weaning and know all what goes with it, i weaned my dd at 14 weeks 4 yrs ago ad she is fit and well and healthy. My dds is 15 weeks and 15lb and does not take his milk well, he fights each feed and i have tried everything, if left to his own devises he will take anyhting from 3 -7 oz per feed but generally only the 7 if forced - averaging about 28oz in a 24 hr period with one or 2 night wakings. He is a happy chappy until feeding and it has become so stressful that yesterday after a 11am fight and condecding at 2 oz i made up some baby rice and offered him it - he loved it and was like a bird. Should i cont today and until 17 weeks with just baby rice at one feed or should i just go for it? I am taking to get weighed tomo. I expect some of you will be quite alarmed at starting to wean early but you havent been fighting my son for 15 weeks!

Early weaning threads always lead to this....as I posted earlier Probably
My instincts were right....the title of the thread says it all.

Hiya Mrs Bagder - no im not going to abandon mm as i have found it useful even if i have been labelled as iresponsible, pouty and other stuff that has just made me laugh!, my emotions have been a bit eratic the last few days worrying about my ds but all is clearer now, been to see hv today and despite his low intake he has puton good weightin the last week. I started the post with the title refering to being shot by hv's (not the other mumsnetters!), anyway gone back to demand feeding and reallty really going to try and hold of till nearer the 6months now that i have read and digested all the helpful literature that some of you sent me mid battle. Now anyone one any tips on when and how to wean a dummy of my DS?????? Or is that another emotive subject lol!

OH dont worry about weaning off a dummy just yet. Too much going on with feeding etc. Its no big deal.

Anyway, latest research shows that babies that have dummies all the time are less at risk of SIDS.

Glad you are sticking around.

hey pouty mish,
don't fret about the dummy. i never thought i'd use one with dd but in truth i find it a godsend at night.

agree there's plenty of time to give up the dummy later

and please change your name to PoutyMish - it's so cool!

i will resist the name change! I think i will re invent myself though and come back as someone else! Maybe "shotatdawn"!
