Hello, I hope it's ok to post this here - I posted a message a couple of weeks ago at a point of dispair with Heather (10 months) who does not really eat solid food. I am embarassed to say that I had reached a point where I found myself holding her head whilst pushing a spoon of puree into her mouth, it makes me sick to think of that. Anyway, someone here recommended a book published by La Leche League called 'My child won't eat' by Carlos Gonzalez. I had seen the book advertised but from the title had assumed it was aimed at older children not babies and toddlers. This book is life-saver - finally I see Heather is normal. It is very gentle and I can safely say that since reading this, Heather is eating more than I have ever seen. It is especially useful for breastfeeding mums and explains why you don't need to cut out breastfeeds or supplement with formula if your baby won't eat. It also has good info for bottle feeders too.

It seems so many of us have similar concerns and I haven't been able to find any other information which really explained the problem and found a solution. I would really recommend this book, it is one of those books that you know you'll end up passing on to other mums to read too! I want both my mum and MIL to read this book so perhaps they will finally stop telling me to stop breastfeeding and force food down Heather's throat.

I hope this helps!

Jenny x

p.s - BT engineer coming in a minute to swap us from NTL then no broadband access for a couple of weeks so I will be going totally potty by then...

Best Wishes

I wish I'd had this info when DS1 was that age (he refused to eat pouint blank)

I'll be weaning DS2 (who's 5.5 months) at some point soon (when I can be arsed), and I'll be repeatiung the mantra "Food's for fun until they're one" and I'm notgoing to stress over it.
