Weaning a baby who can't have milk products - help

DD is 5.5 months old. She doesn't digest milk properly and is on nutramigen formula. I'm starting her on solids, but I'm worried that as I reduce her formula intake that she won't get enough calcium. We're being referred to a dietician, but it will be several weeks before we get an appointment. If anyone has experienced this problem and can offer suggestions, I would be really grateful.

You really won't be reducing her formula intake significantly for ages yet. Just use Nutramigen or soya milk (unless she's MPSI rather than just MPI) in stuff you cook for her rather than cows milk, and include other calcium rich foods like sardines and leafy green veg in her diet.

Are you going the puree route or the blw route?

What's blw?

At the moment she's having five meals a day: baby cereal made with nutramigen and then formula for breakfast, savoury and sweet puree followed by a small bottle for lunch and tea, then a large bottle at 7.30pm and again at 10.30

BLW is baby-led weaning, which is just a fancy name for giving them finger food and letting them pick it up by themselves rather than spooning in purée.

But I guess by your previous post you're doing purées.
