My ds2 is 20 weeks and quite happy on milk at the moment, but I want to get prepared. I'd never even heard of BLW til about a week ago and don't really know a great deal about it other than bits I've picked up on MN.
I weaned DS1 at 4.5 months using puree's and annabel Karmels book. I would like to last til 6months with DS2 and take a different approach with him.

Take a look at www.babyledweaning.com

a good link to start you off

there are no books on baby led weaning specifically. people have been doing blw for years but without it having an 'official' name IYSWIM. the above link takes you to the study that kind of formalised it as baby led weaning.

your best bet are on line blogs such as aitch's, which LRWG suggested. it's great, lots of photos, recipe ideas etc. but it isn't a guide as such, it's just aitch and co describing what they've given their babies, their top tips etc, not really a guide in the annabel karmel sense of the word. whereas AK tell you exactly from day one what to feed baby, how much, what time etc...baby led weaning is quite the opposite. you follow your baby's lead. so the amount you give depends on how much they want for example. if you're used to the AK way of doing things then BLW might seem a bit free and easy..kind of.

other than that, you can find plenty finger food books in any bookshop or amazon or whatever. but they aren't blw books, just books with ideas for finger food.

Thanks
free and easy sounds good to me.....I am much more laid back 2nd time round.
I guess the same rules apply regardingwhen to introduce different foods, as I am quite cautious in that sense.

yes. if you have allergies in your family you should take normal precautions, such as leaving wheat etc for longer. there is a good link on aitch's blog.

have fun!

Why doesnt Aitch write a book? Ive been trying to explain BLW to various people (friends, rellies, nursery) and no-one is quite getting it and keep asking me for books on it. One particular friend hasnt got internet access and would really like more help on BLW. I know it should be easy, just give them chip-shaped stuff, but I still struggle each evening thinking about the day ahead of me if Im going out and have to look up ideas. Its not coming naturally!

So, I'll ask again - Aitch - why dont you write a book? Youre very good at writing having read your blog, and there are NO books out there!

i actually like that there isn't a book.

i think if there was to be a book it would have to be very free and easy, cos like dizzy i appreciate the fact that there isn't a grid system with the daily instructions etc etc.
