Finger foods for 10 month old who has too many teeth for his own good?

He literally bites off more than he can chew and then chokes himself and gives me heart failure every time.

I give him grated cheese, toast, jelly, bits of banana.

He says he wants more variety.
(he is very intelligent

All suggstions gratefully received.

I give ds all sorts of things that aren't strictly "finger food" - eg home made lasagne (shop bought would have too much salt) chopped into small bite-sized pieces; soup with bread cut into small chunks in it (the bread soaks up the soup and he eats them); salad bits (cucumber, lettuce, cherry toms); little bits of chicken, roast potatoes, carrots cut in pennies, bits of broccoli ... the key at this stage is to cut them up small enough so he won't choke on them - learning to bite appropriate sized bits comes later! Ds is now almost 18 months and only just getting the hang of that
