BLW and crushing food into submission?

DS is 6 and a half months. BLW going fine but he seems to have the strongest grip on earth. Carrots and pitta seem to be the only things that don't get mashed in his hands. He hasn't learnt to crush then shove into mouth so he just looks at the contents of his hand as if to say "what the heck is that?" Sweet potato and butternut squash have both been big orange disasters.

So when will he learn to be a little more gentle?

Oh, I remember this stage. They certainly enjoy crushing everything. I think it calms down over the next few months.

Cucumber batons might work?

Oooh - when he's about 26?

Sorry - Ds was like that to some degree - but he was VERY gentle when picking up peas, sweetcorn etc. He should come to terms with his grip & modify it soon. He'll learn different grips & start to use a refind "pincer" grip soon

hahahaaah, i'd forgotten about that stage already. the double-handed death grip we called it. as iklboo and NQC said, it'll calm down soon.

At some point he'll stop thinking "I mock your puny earth food! Mwa ha ha ha!" and start eating it better, don't worry.

lol, i have a great photo of ds with sweet potato that he had sqeezed within an inch of it life, then wiped his face, hair, and anything else he could reach.

Get lots of photo, it does not last long, ds ate a full banana in the time it took me to eat a slice of toast. (he is 7 months)
