Quick poll - did your LO sleep better at night after you weaned?

dd is 23 weeks and she's been waking up lots more in the night for the last month or so. I have a 2 year old too so it's starting to become a bit of a struggle. I am not planning to wean until 26 weeks and am keeping myself going by telling myself things will improve in the sleep department when I wean. I think they did with ds but I can't really remember. What happened with you?

TIA

No, it made no difference whatsoever, in fact I think it made things worse

Enid · 24/11/2006 12:30

yes

Rookiemum · 24/11/2006 13:31

Yes it did, not at first but when he got on to a decent amount of solids, he is bottle fed BTW

FrivolentDemon · 24/11/2006 13:32

Nope.

Didn't bloody sleep before or after.

asleep · 24/11/2006 13:32

yes

cupcakes · 24/11/2006 13:33

No - we weaned early under the HV's advice because he was so unsettled. But he still slept dreadfully till he was over 1.

yes yes yes!!!! i told interfering hv that she could have him for night if i didn't wean now. he was 8 weeks old

CorrieDale · 24/11/2006 13:36

Nope. Made it worse for a while. Then it got a little bit better.

Night-weaning helped from 11-13 months. At 13 months, everything fell apart then at 15 months, things started to improve again. But he still isn't great now at 17 mo, and I have discovered that the key is exercise. Apart from nap and meal times, I don't let him sit down... [evil cackle emoticon]

glamourbadger · 24/11/2006 13:39

Not initially - it really interupted both my twins day and night time sleep. We had just got them sleeping through so was gutted! Came right after about 3 weeks and they have slept through ever since. Both are bottle fed.

beckybrastraps · 24/11/2006 13:41

Yes

no, got worse

fluffyanimal · 24/11/2006 15:37

No, made no difference. Sometimes he sleeps through, sometimes he doesn't. Can't see any rhyme or reason to it.

USAUKMum · 24/11/2006 16:20

No, it didn't make a difference until both DD & DS were 10.5 mths. (freakily almost to the day with both) Then both slept through.

docket · 24/11/2006 18:10

damn! Oh well, what will be will be I suppose.

Got worse. She slept 7 til 7 from about 10 weeks to 20 weeks, then gradually got worse. Weaning put the final nail in the sleep coffin. Still appalling at 18 months.

lemonaid · 24/11/2006 19:22

No, it was about the same (possibly slightly worse if anything, but no dramatic change)

IdrisTheDragon · 24/11/2006 19:22

No difference with DD [yawn emoticon].

hulababy · 24/11/2006 19:23

No. Infact it coincided with the time she actually become much worse at sleeping sadly.

Mercy · 24/11/2006 19:30

dd = yes, started at 4.5 months. Appalling sleeper beforehand. I can even remember the date teh first afternoon sleep she had. 11/9/2001

ds = no difference, started at 5 months and a bit ( reasonably good sleeper anyway)

ilovecaboose · 24/11/2006 19:31

no difference until he started developing intolerences to certain foods. Then it got worse.

deaconblue · 26/11/2006 19:18

He slept through from 9 weeks until the week before we started him on solids (20 weeks). We have only had two full night's sleep since!!! (now 7 1/2 months)
