6mo blw and undigested food in poo

I can't remember what's normal when they start weaning. Is it usual for food to come through undigested? Today, for example, its carrots that were eaten yesterday. It seems a bit quick for them to be coming through and should i even be able to identify them?

I'm ultra paranoid because ds was prescribed antibiotics at 4 weeks old and i'm worried that they have damaged his digestive system or left him with a leaky gut. He also has terrible eczema regardless of what he eats.

Is the undigested food a problem at this stage? Poos are still very soft, not quite liquidy but i wouldn't describe them as solid (he's bf if that makes a difference).

Thanks

Totally normal. DS is 1 and sometimes still has undigested food in his poo.

I think when you you doing blw it's hard to know if they have actually eaten anything, at least when you see it come out the other end you know some went in!

Totally normal, it'll stop eventually. At 18 montjs we sometimes see sweetcorn and the odd raisin but that's all. If they were eating mush/puree you just wouldn't see undigested food cos it's be better mixed with the poo that's all!

Yup, totally normal. Mine were about 9/10 months before that stopped being a regular occurrence. As for speed if mine have sweetcorn for tea, you can tell in first dirty nappy of next day.

Totally normal. Dd is 10 months and skins of things still pass through undigested (pepper/ blueberry skins etc)

That's great, thanks everyone. I must admit, my initial thought at seeing other was joy that he'd actually eaten something! Then came the concern that i shouldn't be able to see it.

Thanks for the reassurance. Smile

I'm 47 and still experience this if I don't chew thoroughly, or with things that just don't break down like skins of fruit/veg as mentioned. In older children and adults it's a handy way of knowing if the digestivo system is struggling or working eficiently.

Yep totally normal. Spotted a baked bean this morning and my first thought was "oh good her pincer grip must be getting better!" Grin (DD is almost 9 months)

Yep regularly find mango chunks here; DD seems to just Hoover mango Grin
