Get a potato ricer (like a big garlic press). It's great for the aforementioned avo and banana, sweet potato, normal potato, brocolli, carrots etc. NOt great for meat or fish but the fact it goes straight in the dishwasher without taking up the whole thing, like the food processor does, means I often chop up a sweet potato, zap it in the microwave, then mix it with grated cheese (the ready-grated stuff from Tesco, natch...) and a bit of milk. DS (6 1/2 months) gobbles it down!

I do freeze up batches of puree but sometimes i forget to take one out of the freezer or we might have run out!!

Thanks for the ideas!

cracker bread with cream cheese or home made hummas go down well with ds.

dont need to mash banana or avacardo, they can do a good job of that on there own.

If lo is ok with finger foods pasta with milk, cheese and left over veg, or frozen vey mashed into it.

Also would not use ready greated cheese, is has something on it to stop it sticking together, and has a funny taste. But lets face it it takes seconds to grate cheese and can be done and storede in an air tight container for a day or two.

forgot to say ds is not quite 7 months.

If you want to make somethink - Tuna 'Delight' bit of tuna, bit of plain yoghurt, if neccessary add something to thicken (mashed potato, baby rice whatever you have to hand) smush it all up - hey presto.
but actually you might get on just as well with bits of bread, cubes of cheese, slices of ripe fruit and the like - that really is easy
