hi, what are your thoughts on buying one of those fancy baby food processors?

Don't bother. Get a hand blender. Miles better for doing baby size portions and zillions cheaper. We got ours free at our Weaning Group

moljam · 15/11/2006 14:15

i use a normal one, cheaper and does same job.

doormat · 15/11/2006 14:15

they serve their purpose
and if they had one of them when mine were younger
I would of had one

Twiglett · 15/11/2006 14:16

all you need is a hand blender

JessaJam · 15/11/2006 14:17

I managed with a £4.99 hand held blender from sainsburys...

GoingQuietlyMad · 15/11/2006 14:18

Yes, hand blender is more than adequate. And remember that you only need it for about 6 months anyway. Then it joins the stack of expensive baby stuff in the cellar/attic that you only used a few times.

lulumama · 15/11/2006 14:19

no blending at all

a hand held blender is fine..and really soft stuff can be well mashed with a fork and mixed with milk or the water it was cooked in..

Mum2FunkyDude · 15/11/2006 14:22

You only need to puree for about 3 months, then you can mash, if you can justify that then go for it. I used handheld blender and now mash and chop.

Remember, speaking as a first time mum, I think there are loads of unnecessary gadgets to lure us and commewrcial companies to take our money!

Well... do you mean the one which also steams.

If so, I had one and loved it... even bought a 2nd one when I drop the original and DD was already eating lumpy food...

If you can afford it, I would say buy it.. If not, then certainly not an essential piece of equipment.. but I still loved mine....

Enid · 15/11/2006 15:45

I prefer a processer myslef then you can chop food finely rather than puree it

neilsmum · 15/11/2006 19:37

yes, it also steams. there are 2 of them actually, one is called beabo which is 65 quid and another one called baby delice which isalso the same money, but is for 39.00 in the blooming marvellous sales.
