hi my dd2 is 6 months and ive started weaning but she also has reflux which is making it a bit more difficult. ive tried her with carrot, sweet potato, banana and creamy rice breakfast which she has liked.

i just need help/advise on when best to give milk, food and naps throughout the day.

at the moment she has milk about 6.30-7am

nap 9.00-9.45
food 10.00
milk 10.30-11am
sleep 11.30-1pm
food 1.15pm
milk 1.30pm
sleep 2.30-3pm
milk 4,30pm
bath 5.30pm
milk 6pm
sleep 6.30pm- i wake for dream feed usually 10pm.

i usually give the solids before her milk so that she is hungry for them. im so confused you wouldnt think id already done it before with my son who is 4 yrs. but you do forget, also can anyone recommend any good books for weaning and routines. ive got annabell karmel but need one that has routines for food and milk and naps.

please can anyone help. xxx

Our routine at six months isn't too dissimilar:

Wake - 6.30am(ish)
Milk - 7am
Nap - 8am-10am
Food - 10am
Milk - 11am
Nap - 12-2pm
Food - 2pm
Milk - 3pm
Nap - 4.30-5pm
Milk - 6.30pm
Bath
Bed - 7pm
Midnight snack of milk - 11pm

Am giving mainly finger food so it's mainly exploration of food at the moment. Have a look at www.babyledweaning.com

I started weaning DD at 6 months and first it was hard to find a place for food between her milkfeeds and naps. But now 2 weeks later she's fallen into her little routine (btw, this girl never had a 'routine' but after starting solids she has found herself one!)(or it's just coincidence, don't know..) Anyway, here it is:

wake 8.00
milk 8.30
nap 10.30-11.30
milk 12.30
food 2.00
nap 3.00-4.30
milk 4.30
food 5.45
milk 7.45
sleep 8.15

First tried to give food before milk but she didn't take her milk then (just couple of oz). Now give food appr 1h30min after milk and she seems to be happy with it.

My ds2 is 6 months and also has reflux, is on Enfamil AR pharmacy only formula and given the choice would happily drink water over milk any day!

My routines are totally different so thought I would post and I have only been weaning for 10 days!

6.10 wakes
6.45 breakfast - weetabix is a favourite
8.00 has about 2oz of milk - never been a good milk drinker
8.30 naps on way to drop ds1 at preschool
9.15 drinks rest of milk 6oz
10.45 naps again on way to collect ds1
12.00 food
2.00 milk
2.10 sleep
4.15 food
5-6 small nap about 20 mins
6.30 bath and bed
7.00pm milk
11pm dream feed

day begins again!

forgot to say, every baby is different and as I have to fit in feeds around preschool run my day is different to anyone who has one baby and doesn't have to go anywhere for a particular time.

Annabel is a winner she doesn't specify times and I am still going off the one I had when I weaned ds1 3 years ago.

thanks for everyones comments really helpfull.
hotpot- what food do you give your little one apart from weetabix in the morning.

ive tried my daughter on sweet potato and carrot puree. i did give her creamy rice breakfast from a jar but it seemed to give her lots of wind esp at night and a bit of a dodgey nappy in the morning. xx

dd is 6 months old.

up at 6.30, milk feed
8am nap
9am milk feed
11am solids (fruit)
12pm nap
1pm milk feed
3pm nap
3.30pm milk feed
4pm solids (veg)
6pm milk feed
6.30pm bed

no feeds at night

the ides is that their main food is still their milk at this age so i would tend to get them full of milk rather than full with food. so basically she has milk when she wakes from her naps, and solids an hour later ish. we're doing blw too.
