do your 6 month old eat the same meals as you? If so, what meals do you have?

ds is 6 months and ive pureed a little bit but everyone keeps saying that he should be able to eat the same meals as us now, albeit mashed or whatever. IS this ok to do?

And what meals do you all have together - i am looking for inspiration for relatively healthy meal ideas!

TIA X

DD2 is nearly 10 months and has had finger foods from 6 months, she eats most of what we eat I'm veggie DP isn't so the DD2 gets a buffet of my meal, DP's and DD1's i.e. I pick out the stuff she can have and plonk it all in front of her. She shovels it all in. I do still feed really runny things with a spoon like yoghurt, weetabix, soup but everything else she feeds herself. She will even try and grab food if you are eating and she's not and she has a special sound for it too.

mashed potato in little balls is good
fish from fish fingers without the batter
homemade chicken nuggets
all kinds of veggies
homemade chips
pasta
cubes of cheese

DD is 26 weeks and is also a lazy baby - can sit up for a few seconds but ends up slouched over like a drunk.

We do have a Bumbo and a highchair but at the moment I'm finding it easier just to sit her on my lap. Sure, meals take a little longer for me, but it means that she is upright and can feed herself easily. She also loves it when we eat together - it's such a lovely thing to share a slice of toast with your little one perched on your knee.

NZ sweet potato - my brother gets them in the UK in the supermarket.

Wriggler has a go at everything - even curry and chilli (although I did 'dilute' them a bit with rice so they were not too spicy).

Her favourite food at the moment is casserole - but only because she thinks its good for painting with!

Mandyboo, he'll be fine in a high chair if well supported. If I had waited until my ds could sit by himself to wean, I'd still be waiting, and he's 8 months!! He's only just started to do it now.
