Water & weaning

I think I must be being stupid but I can't find this on NHS website...

I know you need to use boiled water for making formula but what about drinking water after 6 months? Do I need to boil the kettle and let it cool for my daughter to have a drink of water at 8 months x

The boiling of water is for powdered formula, it has nothing to do with the age of the baby. Powdered formula can contain very nasty bacteria which is killed by water at a temperature higher than 70 degrees.

Water in the UK is fine, from the tap, for babies older than 6 months. Before 6 months, it is not necessary to give water as milk provides all the baby needs.

water for drinking doesn't need boiling from 6 months

As PP say it's fine to use tap after weaning has started/6 months.
In very hot weather or if constipated ff babies might have some cooled boiled water younger but it's not often called for in the uk, hence the nhs might not bother mentioning it.
