At a loss, 11mnth DD will not eat solids

She was very very slow to start, went from ebf until 6m then offering finger foods as wouldn't entertain spoon so didn't try again until 9mnts when she was happy to take some stuff from a spoon, the rest was finger food and we couldn't really tell what she was eating except that some was going in and then out in the nappy. Then February became a good month of eating, when I say good I mean she would eat a variety of things but tiny amounts, and sometimes better amounts from a spoon. Mealtimes were quite enjoyable.
3/4 weeks we both had flu, it's wiped us out but tail end of it now. SHe has a snotty nose still but otherwise is much improved. But not eating a thing, I'm breastfeeding her approx 3x a day and 3x a night which I expect has an influence but I don't want to night wean whilst she's ill.
Is this likely to all be related to being unwell or have I somehow managed to put her off eating already? I try not to show any emotion with food with her, but I'm so worried now, she's keeping her weight gain but only 2nd centile so can't get much smaller. Any reassurance or advice will be appreciated. TIA x

I have just seen a similar thread running which has others in a similar position which is reassuring. I will get the suggested book I think.

I think you are doing just right. Just keep offering a variety of foods and let her pick. Was the book you saw My Child Won't eat by Carlos Gonzalez?

Has she always been on the 2nd centile? What centile is she on for height?

If it's any consolation my dd was always a spoon refuser too. She is a very Independant little thing and now she's in KS2 at school it really is working to her benefit. She's a very independent learner and her teacher couldn't praise her enough at parents evening last week .

Sounds like feeling unwell could be the cause. Have you tried her with a dose of ibuprofen about half an hour before her main meal? Feeding her favourites for a few days won't hurt either and can you fit in an extra bf in the day?

Just had a look at this article on Kellymom which suggest reducing or stopping solids completely if you are worried about a baby's weight, has she read it by any chance? Grin

You might find how do we get started with solids? and after the first year useful reading too Smile
