9 month old doesn't like texture

I'm trying to give my baby more texture after doing purée only so far (I've not done blw so didnt follow this) but he doesn't seem to like it.
He has taken mashed veg, and textured cereal so maybe it's the tastes he doesn't like rather than the texture I don't know?

Don't fret. are you letting him play with the food a bit and allowing him use fingers to feed? I know it's messy but a change in texture can take a bit of getting used to and touching food with fingers is part of the adaption to something new. let him play with it, licking it off his fingers, wipe on his face, hair, everything and laugh about it. I know feeding your baby is a big part of a mum's job but also part of that is making life fun and interesting. you are probably, without realising it, exhibiting your anxiety and he is picking up on it which might be putting him off a bit. do try some finger food too. fingers of toast usually go down well.

He is only 9 months. He will progress and regress all the time! my ds 5y suddenly likes broccoli whereas my dd 2y is suddenly not bothered by food much! but that could all change tmw!

keep trying but don't force him. good luck!

I'd second the suggestion of finger food. If he's only had smooth foods till now, he's used to just swallowing food down. So it's understandable that he might be thrown a bit when he encounters lumps in what looks like smooth puree. It might be easier for him to understand he needs to chew when he's feeding himself chunky bits of food.

Agree with the others, try him with a bowl of Cheerios, no milk in a bowl with a spoon and just let him play with them. You could sit him on the floor with a mat or shower curtain under him if you are worried about the mess. Just look on it as play and don't worry too much if he doesn't try them. You could even put them in a saucepan and give him a wooden spoon so he thinks he's cooking Smile
